ADHD, Productivity and Mindfulness

There is so much written about the healing power of slowing down and mindful breathing that if you are like me, you have been trying to make this a priority. But if you, like me, struggle with distracting thoughts you know this is easier said than done! Just as I start to slow down my brain, I remember all the forgotten tasks and responsibilities that should be done right away. Telling my mind that these things don’t matter is almost anxiety inducing! It’s a struggle to stay seated and keep the practice of mindful breathing going. Those wave like breathes switching into choppy waters crashing into one another.

I have found a wonderful solution that I would like to suggest you add to this routine. While you sit and breathe/pray/write an excerpt in your gratitude journal keep an inexpensive notepad by you as well. As you get started and those pressing duties pop up in your thoughts, jot down that task/item you need at the store/call you should return onto your notepad and then move back to your mindful practice.

Once you are done with your dedicated time of slow down, you can decide how you would like to take action on the things you remembered.
